Increasingly well heeled and with a thriving shopping and café scene, Hertford is an up and coming town with a wealth of opportunities on offer. Located just north of London, and being only 40 minutes on the train to connecting London stations, makes Hertford a perfect place to bring up a family and commute into London for work.
It is a place where families still favour state primary and comprehensive schools such as the Ofsted Outstanding Abel Smith Primary School, once families have worked out where their children are going to school, they tend to stay put.
With a variety of independently owned coffee shops and cafes across Hertford a decent slice of cake or a cappuccino are both never far away. There is a great nightlife and excellent pubs offering food and locally produced beers as well as the more well known brands, coupled with its close proximity to central London, that makes it an extremely desirable place to live.
During the weekdays there’s often a buzzing vibe throughout the day with many start-up companies and small businesses operating in hidden away business centres and studios as well as lots of activity from the bigger businesses on the high streets.
The health and wellbeing facilities in the town are good, including a Nuffield Health Centre with a gym, a health foods shop, a local sports complex, which includes a pool and outdoor tennis courts.
Hertford has two nation Rail Stations within walking distance from the town centre. There are trains from Hertford East running every half hour taking 50 minutes to Liverpool Street, this line you can now use your Oyster as well daily, weekly or yearly season tickets.
